FERM LIVING originates from a graphic design agency in Aarhus, Denmark, founded by Trine Andersen in 2005. The company came to life after Trine, mostly for fun, decided to visit a clairvoyant. Trine was quite astonished when the clairvoyand saw a little bird sitting confused on a branch, not knowing which way to fly. This sight was essential for Trine’s decision to follow her dream of starting her own business. When she then founded ferm, the little bird found knew exactly where to go and now sits on top of the company logo.
FERM LIVING now operates in many markets around the world and has agents/distributors in Australia, USA, Finland, The Netherlands, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Sweden and Japan.
Newgate specialises in the creation of iconic alarm clocks, travel alarm clocks, mantel clocks and impressively oversized wall clocks. Their designs are heavily influenced by classic, vintage and retro design of the past and by adding a touch of modernism, these clocks are versatile as they suit both traditional and contemporary style homes.
New design facilities allow its team of designers and artists, whom enjoy state of the art technology, to produce the world’s most unusual collection of decorative timepieces. Although their clocks take on much of the flavour of vintage clocks, it is the interpretation of these designs for contemporary living that gives Newgate Clocks its unique edge. The latest in the bestselling Type Map series, place names are written in stylish capitals that merge to form a great looking map of Australia, British Isles and New Zealand. Lovingly made in England and hand printed on to 100% recycled card, the prints fit into a standard size ‘off the shelf’ frame (50×70cm).
Lovers of design classics are in for another treat. Ever since the 1960s, bar accessories from Arne Jacobsen’s Cylinda-Line have defined the good life when it comes to serving everything from the perfect martini (shaken or stirred) to a classic scotch and soda.
Paul Smith has transformed Jacobsen’s bar series into a gorgeous fantasy in black. The special titanium alloy surface lends the steel a rich, deep black colour. Handles on the serving tray and the ice bucket remain in the original brushed steel finish, creating an effective contrast. Another surprising innovation is a collection of statements by the British designer himself, engraved into the black surface to reveal their message in steel. Paul Smith asks us to consider thoughts such as “Take pleasure seriously” and “Start something new” as we enjoy our drinks.
Statement is the ideal gift for the design-loving man or woman who is celebrating a special birthday, an anniversary or merely the joy of everyday living.
The black colour is titanium surfacing, which gives a very hard and durable surface. The statements are engraved through the titanium surface and into the stainless steel.

Ole Jensen trained at the Arts and Crafts College in Kolding, Denmark and the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen from 1985-88. He has been in co-operation with Bing & Grondahl (now Royal Scandinavia) since 1985. He was Project Leader at Denmark’s School of Design, Copenhagen from 1992-1999. He has had a wide selection of exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition at the V&A Museum in London, and won a collection of awards, including the Design Plus Prize in 1998.
